Take it down a notch Fridays

As many of you know, our minds are weightily preoccupied with the wrongness of the Iraq war the other six+ days of the week. In that spirit, on Fridays here at The Iraq War Was Wrong Blog we have always (on semi iregular basis) kicked back with some lighter notes on Fridays, and "taken it down a notch". We share stories of weirdness and whimsy, highlight the work of good and decent popular entertainers and rockers, laugh at humourous events and people, and point to amazing (non Iraq war related) stuff.

The day is a choice - the idea is important. Personally, I think bloggers and readers could all use more breaks like this from the (often negative) news of the week (about the wrongness of the Iraq war.) Take It Down A Notch Fridays began in May of 2004, and I, personally, have (almost) always graciously agreed to respect and work within this Iraq War Was Wrong Blog tradition (which, I started). So, welcome to The Iraq War Was Wrong Blog... and Take it down a notch with me!

Dune Buggys

Ok so I gotta ask, howcome dune buggys isn't more bigger anyways. Wehn I was a kid I thought that in my teenage years everone would have dune buggys all over the place. Guys and girls, fun in the sun zooming around those dunes in your dune buggy. That's waht it seemed like. (From that one show? Saturday morning/ can't remember was it a cartoon or) And but than when I got to be in highschool age, no dune buggys anywhere. It was one of the bigger disappointments for me to be honest. Because actually I didn't even know very many people with a car. (Let alone dune buggy). There was Quang (also Vietnam/ didn't know Phung though) and he use to take us to Subway at lunch but comon, that's a pale imitation.

UPDATE: In my mind mine was always gonna be dark cherry red (but kinda sparkly? how do the do that) with a smiley face painted on the front, so it would remind me like it is in that show(except for the talking part). Taht's how I always pictured it anyways. And I would have a arch rival who's dune buggy was dark purple with a yellow strip or something. (The difference colors is how you would tell us apart). Maybe we would always be having races against each other, but than OPPS the purple one FLIPS!!! But everyone's ok in the end.

Another good thing about the dune buggy is, you can pack all your teen friends in and its very cosy but also convienent. There's the driver and the one who's shotgun, that's about it for the front I guess, but lots of people stuffed in the back, like you can't even tell waht's going on back there, except for you can see a girl sitting up on the tip top of the back seat to carry the beach ball. Somehow she never falls off, either.
