once, twice, 3x a ladyTo me, she is always
the woman. I have seldom heard myself mention her under any other name. In my eyes, she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It is not that I feel any emotion akin to emotional love for Vega. All emotions, and that one particularly, are abhorrent to my cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. And yet, there is but one woman in the blogosphere to me, and that woman is Vega.
Vega, it's odd, tragic and incomprehensible that you were so misunderstood and unappreciated. As time gallops on, most people fade and grow smaller, whereas you, Vega, only grow in stature.
Dear readers, I've been hearing bad tidings.
Various conflicting stories regarding Vega's demise.
I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet!
Meanwhile, I picture this to be part (I admit it needs more work) of Vega's obituary:

Goodbye Vega/Italian rose Though I never knew you at all You had the grace to hold yourself While those around you crawled They crawled out of the woodwork And they whispered into your brain They set you on the treadmill And they made you change your name
And it seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind Never knowing which Palestinian* to cling to When the rain set in And I would have liked to have known you But I was just a blogger Your candle burned out long before Your legend ever did
Loneliness was tough The toughest role you ever played Nablus* created a superstar And pain was the price you paid Even when you died Oh the press still hounded you All the papers had to say Was that Marilyn was found in the nude
Goodbye Vega From the young man in the 22nd row Who sees you as something as more than sexual More than just our Marilyn Monroe

* this song isn't an immaculate conception (tho' any reader familiar with Vega and her work must surely admit it's hard to believe this song wasn't originally about her). I'm also perfectly aware that Vega's bf was/is technically Israeli (i.e living in so-called Israel, with a so-called Israeli passport) and that he was (if memory serves) a Christian rather than a Muslim. However, such details are a distracting nuisance. This is also why I chose 'Nablus', 'though Vega's birthplace (Napoli? Venice?) would have been equally suitable.
